Biography:

Lasana is an educator, consultant and writer committed to inciting critical thought about society, culture and politics. He has served as a collegiate student leader at Texas State University, a grassroots community organizer and a member of several community advisory boards. Professionally, Lasana has served as an associate producer in television news, vice-president of a wireless phone franchise, an elementary school teacher and a program coordinator at a university.

His diverse array of experiences gives him a broad perspective of the challenges and issues that people of color face throughout the world. Accordingly, as an independent researcher he has incorporated these experiences and developed workshops and written essays on his diverse research interests which includes leadership, history, anthropology, media, spirituality, education, Pan-Africanism and Hip hop. Lasana's presentations are fact-based multimedia experiences presented with candor, humor and passion.

He has contributed chapters to several publications including:

African-American Men in College (Jossey-Bass 2006), The State of Black Arizona (2008), Be A Father to Your Child: Real Talk from Black Men of the Hip Hop Generation (Soft Skull 2008) and The Black Male Health Handbook: A Blueprint for Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health and Wellness (TBD 2008). Lasana is the founder, principal owner and Lead Consultant of Hotep Consultants. He was also featured on Ebony.com with his mobile technology company MyClickUrban. He also served as a Student Success Coordinator in the Multicultural Student Center at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, Arizona. He is currently pursuing a PHD in US History.
